[Summer in Grenoble] Lyon - Day 1: Strolling Through Vieux Lyon (Old Lyon) While Eating a Gelato

June 27, 2015

After spending several hours in the nice, air-conditioned indoors of Lyon Miniature & Cinema Museum, I had to drag myself back out into the heat.

Then I found this place, a Gelato store named "Amorino"

because there's no way that I'm going to survive the heatwave without some nice cold gelato.

...........
*craving intensifies

As a chocolate addict myself, I ordered 2 chocolate flavors without any hesitation, even though I got the choice to choose 2 flavors. The gelato cone was very beautiful too, because they made it look like rose petals.
The outer petals were chocolate, and the inside was chocolate hazelnut (basically what nutella is).
In my opinion, chocolate tasted better than chocolate hazelnut, because this being a gelato made it way too sweet.

Thanks to the help of the chocolate gelato, I was able to stroll through Vieux Lyon more comfortably

and then I found this long line

.... to an ice cream store.
This place was very tempting because of the long line (and long lines are often an indication of a good reputation/quality.)
Unfortunately, I was already having some gelato, and the line was way too long beyond my patience level in this weather.

but if I had known about this place in advance, I would have definitely tried this place first.

Ah, I love this kind of slow, peaceful atmosphere!
It also makes some good photos too!

and then there's this.
A candy store with a pirate concept.

Vieux Lyon isn't that long.
I've reached what appeared to be the end of it quite soon.

I thought I've seen enough, so I decided to go to my next destination.

Ah, it's that cathedral in the distance again.

Ooh! A music store!
This might have been a cool place to visit, but I was very scared of the language barrier so I didn't go.

I stopped by the Cathedrale Saint-Jean Baptiste again,
.... and took some pictures of it.... AGAIN
Then, I headed over to my next destination.

[Summer in Grenoble] Lyon - Day 1: Lyon Miniature & Cinema Museum

June 27, 2015

While walking through the streets of Vieux Lyon, I found Musee Miniature & Cinema.
If it were any other kind of museum, I would have walked past it, but since it was about movie stuff, I decided to pay a visit.

when I came into the lobby,

I saw some sneak-peek exhibits.

Some posters that describe what is displayed in the museum.

and some souvenir miniatures.

The details were absolutely amazing.
My body is incapable of doing anything that is so small and meticulous, and I greatly envy those who can.

Oh, and they also sold the tickets for the museum at the lobby (obviously)
I got in for free with my Lyon City Pass, and by the looks of it, students get some discount!

anyway, after getting my ticket, the journey through the museum started from the basement.

Where the replica set of the movie 'Das Parfum' was placed in.

when I went up the stairs

There were more of the set replicas of Das Parfum.

After that, the exhibits continued indoors

where I saw concept arts

and story boards of movies like The Matrix and Spiderman 1.

There were also costume replicas on exhibit as well.

then I went on to exhibit area 3

where there were mostly props.

Now here's something familiar.
A magic wand from the Harry Potter movies!

There were also Wolverine's adamantium claws.

and so on and so forth, lots of fake weapon props were on exhibit.

Then I walked over to exhibit area 4

Where I saw some miniature buildings, structures, or air/spacecrafts!
Area 4 was one of my favorite exhibit areas.

Exhibit area 5

was all about masks and creature model/suits.

Most importantly, area 5 had this moving model of Alien
(It's just simple, jerky movements, so don't expect too much)

Now, exhibit area 6...

Oh.. goodness, no.
Dolls.
....
I think they're creepy.

I got out of there as quickly as I can and proceeded to exhibit area 7 and 8.

Everything in exhibit area 7 and 8 were all miniatures.
Can you believe that all you're seeing are miniatures???
All of these intense and amazing craftsmanship was so interesting to observe.

Contrary to my expectations, Lyon Miniature & Cinema Museum was loaded with interesting exhibits and took quite a lot longer to see everything.
No matter, I liked it.
