[2014 Kyushu Family Trip - 11] The Original Hakata-Style Ramen, Genso Nagahamaya Ramen

December 24th, 2014
After visiting Fukuoka Tower and Marizone, my family headed over to the Nagahama area of Fukuoka to get some lunch.

What were we trying to eat?
If you're at Fukuoka you've gotta eat some Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen!
That's what we were going after.

 After walking for a while...

We found this place, called "Genso Nagahamaya."
It's one of the largest ramen restaurants in the area, it also seemed very popular among local people, and it only costs 500 yen per bowl of ramen!
Now that's super cheap!

Like most of the ramen restaurants of Japan, you have to purchase a ticket from a vending machine and hand the ticket over to the workers of the restaurant.

We only ordered 2 servings of ramen with extra meat, because we were thinking of getting some sushi later for early dinner.

This is what the store looked like, nothing fancy, nothing too decorative.
This was a store that let its ramen do all the talking.

One of the things I really like about Japanese ramen restaurants is that we can actually see how the workers prepare all of the ramens.

Here it is, the original hakata-style ramen!

this was the extra meat that I ordered.

After adding the extra meat, it was time to eat!
and it tasted FANTASTIC!
Well, honestly, I like pretty much any kind of tonkotsu ramen.
However, my mother who is a very picky eater, and pretty much dislikes tonkotsu ramen, said she loved it.

The broth had such a deep taste, but it tasted very clean at the same time.

I heard that Genso Nagahamaya is also nationally reknown in Japan!
It's cheap, it's good, it's super popular amongst Japanese people that you pretty much have to wait in line to eat this ramen.

I'll it's definitely worth trying when anyone visits Fukuoka!
