The second day of Ansan M Valley Rock Festival had arrived.
Jin and I got up very late, because we ended up going to bed around 4 AM.
All thanks to the awful transportation accessibility.
Good job, Ansan and CJ group. Good job!
Not to mention that the blind of the hotel room was black, and it completely blocked out all light.
So, the room was pitch black even at that late time we got up.
When did we get up exactly...?
Around 12 PM at lunch time!!
As soon as we got up, Jin and I went out to have lunch first.
We had some cold Naeng Myeon (which is Korean for "cold noodles")
It's one of my favorite food during summer!
After that we came to the Jungwang E-Mart bus station and got on the 123 bus as we did the day before.
..... Well....
It started raining while we were on the bus, and it was pouring when we got off at Daebudo.
It was pouring and was very windy.
What would the festival site look like....?
............
a picture is worth a thousand words...
so, I think I'll let these pictures do all the talk.
Whoop dee do!
It's like a death sentence to my shoes and clothes.
Let's just forget about it and go see the concerts.
At least there are some grassy regions in sight.
......
but too bad they were already halfway submerged in water.
It was only a matter of time before the entire festival site becomes a mud lake.
but still, gotta watch some gigs!
Apollo 18 was performing when Jin and I first arrived at the Green Stage.
I don't think this video might do this band justice, but they played some hardcore music!
There were mosh pits and circle pits, which were HUGE, by the way.
All thanks tho the fence arrangement at Green Stage, which was far better than that of Big Top Stage.
I personally thought Apollo 18 was a band more suited for Sunday that had harder bands like Foo Fighters and Motorhead.
Why, Ansan, WHY did you give these guys a set on a Saturday, which was headlined by EDM musicians??
Anyway, after Apollo 18's performance, Jin and I made our way to Big Top Stage.
To see 'Galaxy Express' perform!
It was my 3rd time seeing this band, and their music was fun as always!
aaaaand
it was pouring a lot during Galaxy Express's gig.
Hey, I'm okay with rainy concerts for bands that do some hard rock music!
It makes things more fun!
....
As long as the ground doesn't turn disastrous, that is...
Galaxy Express is another one of those bands that can easily form mosh pits!
Like in this video! \m/
As much as I wished to go into that mosh pit and have fun.
They had this dumb restriction that people in the front 'chicken coop' are not allowed to wear open toe shoes. (what is this, Chemistry lab?)
and, guess what Jin was wearing...
Sandals!
....
That was very unfortunate....
BUT!!
I also witnessed the most outrageous thing at a rock concert!
Whenever a mosh pit or a circle pit formed inside the "chicken coop," the security agents were "glaring" at the pit.
What do you think you're doing? Watching over prisoners?
You might think, "oh, the security guards are just making sure everyone is safe"
NO, you can't be more wrong!
During Galaxy Express' gig, someone started crowd sufring or shoulder sitting.
Do you know what happened?
As soon as someone started crowd surfing/shoulder sitting, the security agents jumped over the fence, intruded the audiences' standing area, violently suppressed any of such activities, cursed and etc.
Here's an example that I was fortunate enough to take a video of.
I even saw someone get slammed to the ground and get dragged out by the security agents.
ARE YOU SECURITY AGENTS FREAKIN' NUTS?
HAVE ANY OF YOU WATCHED A SINGLE LIVE VIDEO OF A HARD ROCK MUSIC OR A METAL CONCERT??
I think not! because if you have, you'll know well enough that you shouldn't be interfering with the audiences' enjoyment of the concert nor suppress the audience with violence!
......
These hot heads don't care about audience's safety.
They just think they do.
After that bittersweet gig of Galaxy Express,
Jin and I went back to the Green Stage for Jang Beom-Jun's gig.
and again, the weather started pouring.
No matter.
It still made the concert really fun!
I mean, Jang Beom-Jun's music is not hard or fast or heavy.
The rain made them feel a lot more fun than how people like me would normally feel about them.
Everything was completely soaked though.
The storm stopped around the end of their setlist.
and for the last song..!!!
He played 'Cherry Blossom Ending,' which is one of his most popular songs!
It's a pretty sweet song that always returns to somewhere on the top of Korean music chart at March.
After Jang Beom-Jun's concert,
Jin and I returned to Big Top Stage
just in time for the next band performance!
The band that performed was called "Peppertones"
They did some pop punk-ish music.
There were exciting songs, and there were also softer songs.
After Peppertones' performance, Jin and I were making our way to the Green Stage
but before that, I turned my head to the right...
and saw.....
!!!!!!!
I honestly don't think I need to say more about the ground...
Anyway, we made it to Green Stage!
and OK GO's concert began!
They made a very good use of the stage equipments.
Especially with those flying pieces of paper!
The songs weren't hard, heavy or fast.
but they were still very rhythmical and fun!
There was also a very surprising thing about OK GO's concert.
It was the 'human train,' which was really fun.
and there even was a mosh pit!
Cool stage setup, human train, and mosh pit!?
I think this band is good enough to hold its own concert, or headline any smaller festivals!
Honestly, Jin and I were thinking of saving our energy for Sunday,
but screw that! I wasn't gonna sit out on fun gig like this!
It was awesome!
After OK GO's performance, Jin and I were leaving the stage.
and we looked back for a moment and saw....
..... are words even necessary now?
anyway, Jin and I made our way to...
this booth, where we had some grilled chicken skewers on the day before!
but do you know what else they sold?
Some Okonomiyakis!
We decided to eat one to commemorate our memories from Summer Sonic Osaka 2013.
and you know what?
back at Summer Sonic Osaka 2013, Jin and I had ate a lot of Naeng Myeon.
and here at Ansan M Valley Rock Festival, we ate Okonomiyaki.
It was a kind of an ironic situation.
After having the okonomiyaki for dinner, we decided to take a peek at the Big Top Stage before returning to the hotel.
Jin and I weren't that much of a EDM fan, and we also wanted to leave before the public transportation is cutoff...
Hahahaha...
F**k...
Dynamic Duo started performing while Jin and I were having dinner.
It was a Korean hip hop group.
In the middle of the gig, Zion T, who featured as a guest was forced by the crowd and Dynamic Duo to perform one of Zion T's song as a special performance.
and the concert itself seemed pretty fun too.
However....
Jin and I had to leave a little bit early, before the public transportation is cutoff, and get some rest so that we could enjoy Sunday's concerts.
It sure felt really nice that we did not have to deal with the shitty shuttle buses that doesn't take you anywhere.
When we arrived at the hotel...
Jin and I were reviewing(?) some Foo Fighters songs and their setlist (Yay Youtube!),
while we were drinking some tea, and having some snacks!
This wasn't actually a bad way to spend the night!
to be continued...
