Light Journal Project For Studio Art Class

Thumbnail of this post.

This is a Light Journal Project I did for Studio Art class,
and yes, this is the same class I did the Oneshot Project for.

The Light Journal project is supposed to be... uh... has to do with lights.
Whether it's the light itself, how light shapes an object and that kind of stuff.
The whole thing had to be shot in Monochrome, and should not have any sound.

While I was working on this project, I had no idea what this was supposed to be about.
So it sure gave me a hard time.

To be honest, I'm still not entirely clear about what this project was about.
Well, at least I'm done with that... :D

Drawing Practice (Main Character of My Story As the Opposite Gender) by Using Random Drawing Idea Generator 3.0

This semester is a lot busier than I thought.
I mean, I haven't been able to exercise or practice drawing at all. (Not to mention I still have 30+ posts that I've procrastinated, and I feel overwhelmed by class work.)

Anyway, I thought it was time for a study break
and try drawing something.

So I got my third Random Drawing Idea,
which is "The Main Character to that Thing I SWEAR I'm Working on But Just Haven't Found the Time as the Opposite Gender"

I like this one.
It's neither too hard nor too weird.
Thank goodness.

So this is what I ended up with.
This is 'Zharius' (not a finalized name, I'm planning to replace it with a name that people won't confuse its pronounciation) as a girl.

Well... uh
He is originally a long-haired character, has poor growth, and does not like exposing his skin and skinny-fitting clothes.
So, drawing him as a girl does not really make a lot of difference from his original self.

(If the drawing doesn't seem like he has poor growth development or doesn't like tight clothes..... Blame my bad drawing skill... :'(...)

Ugh..
Maybe I should do some human figure drawing practices as well, instead of just doing random drawing ideas...

Oneshot Video Project (....and The Pit Preacher)

Thumbnail picture of this post

The first project for my studio art class was a oneshot project,
which was just filming a 1-minute video with no camera movement or editing.
(but I actually did some color correction on it. shh.. don't tell anyone!)

For this project, I basically went around the campus and filmed approximately 11 different shots.
and out of those 11 shots, this one had the best content and composition so I submitted this one.

You might be wondering where the sudden burst of laughter comes from in this video.

Well... it came from this...

It's just the Pit Preacher doing his stuff, and people making fun of(?) and asking weird questions to Gary Birdsong the Pit Preacher.
He comes to UNC every now and then, and uh...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Birdsong
just follow this link.
This would tell you all you'd probably need to know about him.

Anyway,
please bear in mind that the main focus of this post is the oneshot project, not the pit preacher.

UNC Korean Student Gathering(?) 2014

UNC Korean Student Gathering, which seems to be held on the 2nd or 3rd Saturday after the first day of Fall semester class, was held on September 6th this year.

This is a great chance to see some fellow Korean Tar Heels. (because I barely get to see any other Koreans on a regular day.)

Unlike last year's barbecue party,

this year's Korean Student Gathering was held at a town house that had such a gorgeous pool...

which was totally irrelevant because the party was held indoors, so we weren't allowed to use the pool anyway :(
I actually wanted the swimming pool to be a part of the Korean Student Gathering.

Last year, I attended this party as one of the first-year students,
but this year.....

I was invited to this gathering as a photographer!!!
All right, my T3i and Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 lens, it's your time to shine!!

These were the food all of the people had that night.
(I was personally hoping for a barbecue like last year... cuz I LOVE MEAT!!)

 Well...
I took pictures.
'Nuff said.

This year's first year Korean students (class of 2018)

People applauding.

Transfer students.

Students returning from a year (or a couple of years) off.

The MCs(?)

People had conversation with each other, and then went home.... I think...

......
If this post looks effortless for some reason, it's because I was just a photographer at this gathering.

Rebirth Brass Band & Dumpstaphunk Concert in Chapel Hill

August 22nd, 2014.

After the first week of class,
my friends and I went to see the first Carolina Performing Arts concert of the 2014-2015 school year.

My last-year's roommate had, once again, persuaded us into going to see the CPA performances.
It wasn't as bad as it was last year, because he didn't ask us to go to "all" of the Carolina Performing Arts shows with him.

(But still, CPA shows are cheaper for UNC students, so might as well take advantage of it.)

Therefore, I'm going to see 5 Carolina Performing Arts shows for this school year.

and when my friends and I arrived at Memorial Hall...

This was what we saw.
I remember seeing a lot of people in front of the Memorial Hall on the night of Carolina Performing Arts performances,
but the tables...

the dumpling truck,

and the drink stand
aren't something that I saw for other performances.

Anyways, I retrieved my ticket from the ticket office, and headed inside.

Oh, goodness.
Has it been more than 6 months since the last time I was here?

Before the show began, this man (I don't remember exactly who he was) said something about that night being the very first Carolina Performing Arts show of the 2014-2015 year.
Maybe that's why everything seemed more casual.

And then, the show began.

Rebirth Brass Band from New Orleans!!

I'll say that this was
THE MOST EXCITING CAROLINA PERFORMING ARTS SHOW I'VE EVER BEEN TO!
It truly was the kind of show that I would love.
Rebirth Brass Band is amazing!

and after their performance, it was intermission,

when people go to restroom, get some drink.
It's also the time when the staffs get busy, setting up for the next show.

and after the intermission, began the second act.

This band was called "Dumpstaphunk"
and was also from New Orleans.

Just as the name suggests, this band's music was primarily funk.

However, one of my friends and I were really tired, so we never got to watch the entire show of Dumpstaphunk.
Still, I loved this night's show!

Can't wait for the next 4 Carolina Performing Arts show!
(Not to mention Rise Against concert that's going to be held in Atlanta! :D)
