February 11th, 2014...
It was finally time for the first of the four Carolina Performing Arts concerts that my roommate made me order the tickets for in the previous fall semester.
I have to say, UNC's campus after sunset is really quiet.
It's so different from how it is when the daylight is still bright.
Well, here we are.
Memorial Hall, where all of the Carolina Performing Arts concerts are held.
This day's lineup(?) was Lang Lang.
The genius pianist from China.
I sure was lucky to see a concert that would normally cost somewhere around $100, just 10 bucks.
Haha, thank you Carolina Performing Arts for providing student pricing for UNC students like me! :)
Well, guess who is going to take advantage of such privilege while he's studying here?
haha, yours truly. ;)
Let's enter the building!
This is how the lobby of Memorial Hall looks like.
Ooh?
Seems like Lang Lang is going to sign some CDs after the show.
The 1st floor of the concert hall.
I saw a lot of older people, and numerous Chinese/Chinese Americans.
Well, it's not surprising, because Lang Lang is a Chinese pianist after all.
That's where Lang Lang is going to perform soon!
Everybody stayed seated since it was about time for the concert to begin.
Here he is!
Man of the day!
He performed without any sheet music, and numerous gestures and facial expressions he made, made me think "this man is really immersed in the music, he's feeling the music with his entire body."
Which kind of supports the statement "Lang Lang is a rock star," because that is how numerous rock musicians do their performances.
Back for the encore!
After the concert, the lobby was packed with people who are waiting to get Lang Lang's autograph.
My friends and I didn't buy the CD, and we were starving, because all of us didn't have dinner yet, so we went straight to the dining hall instead.
The Carolina Performing Arts booklet I got before the concert.
In the Lang Lang's section of the booklet, there was a setlist of what he played that night.
He played mostly Mozart pieces for the first half, and Chopin pieces for the second half.
Personally, I liked every part of the concert, including the encores.
It was a really nice experience listening to some classical music for once (and learning that I have an awesome privilege to attend such great concerts for $10 each).
If you like listening to some classical music, I really recommend going to Lang Lang's concerts.
