It was the French class' first outing,
that is if the first class on top of the Bastille is excluded from the "outings" list.
We were supposed to meet at Notre-Dame Musee tram station.
There were a lot of people since it was still around lunch time, considering that the French typically eat later.
I had my lunch at the University's cafeteria (which were generally fantastic, by the way.)
We've met some people there, including some of the Alliance Francaise teachers.
But, we still had to wait for the rest of the people to arrive.
I took some pictures of the Notre-Dame Musee area, while we were waiting for others.
It was quite a beautiful area, so taking pictures of it was enjoyable.

In a bit, everyone showed up and we've begun our first outing.
Our first destination was Musee De L'ancien Eveche.
According to Google Translate, it means "The museum of the old bishopric"
We each received our worksheet full of questions related to the places we were visiting.
and then we headed inside to the museum.
They have this kind of smaller exhibits.
and also this kind of larger, remains of old buildings.
Filling out the questionnaires in the work sheet was pretty painful.
First of all, I'm not really a museum kind of person.
Second, the worksheet was all in French, so people who were in the absolute beginner class, like myself for example, had to rely on those who were in the advanced level.
I don't mind visiting places, but the worksheet was annoying.
We headed somewhere else after leaving the old bishopric museum.
and we cam out to the riverside area of L'isere.
This time, we weren't taking La Bulle up to the Bastille, but instead, we were supposed to get to the other side through this bridge.
La Bulle could be seen at a distance.
Well, that's enough of landscape appreciation,
it was time to follow the group to the next destination.
which was this statue.
It has been more than half a year, so I don't remember all of the details,
If I try to do my best to recall things, the snake is supposed to mean the river, L'isere, and the lion was supposed to mean the first settlers of Grenoble.
After filling out the questionnaire about the statue and its meanings, we made our way to the final destination.
which was this place, Musee Archeologique Grenoble, Saint-Laurent.
Looks like an Archaeological museum. (obviously)
Entrance was under a structure.
After filling out all of the questionnaire about this museum, we were free to go.
This was a museum that gave out audio guides.
Personally, I really hate audio guides.
They always disorient my ears from what my eyes are seeing.
So I end up doing one or the other: listen or see.
Audio guides are pretty long and boring as well.
On top of that, this day was one of the hotter days. and since I'm very weak to heat, the weather was definitely bearing down on my patience.
Anyway, that is why I try to plan my trips centered on food, experience, atmosphere and scenery, instead of museums.
Art museums, museums with interesting concepts, and super-famous landmarks are exceptions.
Anyway, time to head into the museum.
This museum also had a lot of exhibits of remains of old building, or old tools that the people back then had used.
By the looks of the building and the exhibited objects, it sure seemed like the building was once used as a church. (the audio guide talked about this building being a church)
I went downstairs
saw some more building remains.
and went down more stairs.
That led us to this room, which felt like heaven because it was so cool compared to how hot it was outside.
this is one of my habits: taking shallow depth of field pictures.
see? everyone was in this room.
It was so nice and cool in this chamber.
I even wanted to bring my bed here and sleep here instead.
unfortunately, have to see the rest of the museum.
so I did.
and then immediately returned to this chamber with the pillars.
That chamber was so great that I didn't want to leave!
I stayed in that chamber as long as I could. I just can't handle the heat.
...but, it was time to leave.
Those who left the chamber earlier were exploring the buildings.
Seems like I loitered in that chamber for quite a while.
Anyway, we all submitted our questionnaire worksheet and left.
The magic of L'isere : makes people take photos of the scenery.
I also took my last picture of L'isere before leaving for residence.
Unfortunately, I lost my roommate and some other friends during the process.
So I came to Notre-Dame Musee station thinking "someone has to show up here."
but I just ended up taking more photos of the Notre-Dame Musee area.
and then took the tram back to the dorm after receiving a text message from the roommate.
